Space topic in Bowie’s songs
Mentioned in several songs of the musician, a fictional astronaut has achieved popularity, which many real-life showbiz stars would only dream about. Many people wrote about him in periodicals, while other musicians dedicated songs to him. The character was even awarded by a separate detailed article on Wikipedia. It all started with the track “Space Oddity”, from which the public learned about the astronaut, with whom the communication was lost during the flight. Bowie said that he composed the song while being impressed by the fantastic movie “Space Odyssey 2001” by Stanley Kubrick. Several session musicians took part in the work on the song, including bass player Herbie Flowers. The song includes the small and easy solo, which you can learn to play on Guitarsolo and improve your skills.
The release of the song was two days before the Apolon-11 manned spacecraft set off for the Moon, the first time in history to take people to another planet. The BBC radio station broadcasted what was happening and used “Space Oddity” in these reports. Undoubtedly, this helped the track to rise to the fifth line of the British charts. In 2013, Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield sang “Major Tom” while he was on the International Space Station.
